Benny Benassi (born Marco Benassi on July 13, 1967) is a Grammy Award winning Italian DJ and producer of electro house music. He is best known for his 2002 summer club hit “Satisfaction” (see above). Benny Benassi ranks as the 10th most popular DJ in the world according to The DJ List website,^[2]. On October 28, 2009, DJ Magazine announced the results of their annual Top 100 DJ Poll, with Ultra Records artist Benny Benassi placed #26, 13 spots higher than the previous year.

A native of Reggio Emilia, DJ/producer Benassi started DJing alongside cousin Alle Benassi in the late 1980s in their hometown, before moving to Larry Pignagnoli‘s Off Limits production studio in the mid 1990s, creating music for various acts, including Whigfield, J.K. and Ally & Jo. Benassi first hit the dance floor with his own projects in 2001 with the single “I Feel So Fine”, released under the name KMC with vocals by Dhany, the track first stormed the charts in Benassi’s native Italy, and soon became a number one hit in the UKclub charts.^[1]

After moving from MYhouse to electro, “Satisfaction” took Benassi’s success worldwide a year later with high-profile DJs like Carl Cox,Darren Emerson, and Roger Sanchez singing its praises. This reached Number 2 in the UK Singles Chart after the Ministry of Soundrecord company replaced the original video (an almost still picture of the band overlayed with graphics) with a video of models using power tools. Released in 2003, the campy and quirky Hypnotica was Benassi’s solo debut. At the end of 2004, he won the European Border Breakers Award for Hypnotica, which racked up the most sales for an Italian album outside of Italy. Benassi often works with vocalists Paul French and Violeta, who are collectively known as The Biz.

Benassi then produced a group with cousin Alle, called Benassi Bros., a project designed to shine the spotlight on the two Biz vocalists, Paul French and Violeta and other guest singers. A year after the release of Hypnotica, Pumphonia marked their first full length release. And then in 2005, Benassi Bros. released their second album …Phobia.

Some of his singles have charted high in the United Kingdom and have been played worldwide in clubs. Remixes for OutKast, Goldfrapp, and Felix da Housecat followed. Benassi also remixes the music of his contemporaries, such as Tomcraft and Fischerspooner.

In 2005, Benassi founded the record label known as Pump-Kin Music. The focus of the label is primarily new and unsigned producers. Through this venture, he hopes to give exposure to some of the lesser known DJ/production talent across the world.

In August 2007, Benassi released a remix of Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise”. The video for the track was created by Eclectic Method featuring a montage of live footage from Public Enemy, the video was premiered on imeem.com. In February 2008 “Bring the Noise” won a Grammy for best Remix (Dance).

His latest album Rock ‘n’ Rave was released on June 16, 2008. The first single from the album was “I Am Not Drunk.”

Benassi also broadcasts a one hour long radio show titled ‘The Benny Benassi Show’ on Sirius XM Radio‘s channel Area.^[4]

In 2010 Benassi released “Electro Sixteen” a video for Benny Benassi vs. “Iggy Pop“, “Electro Sixteen,” out now on Ultra Records, an experimental music video featuring more than 15,000 photographs from his DJ set at New York’s Electric Zoo Festival, the video was premiered on YouTube.com.^[5]

He will release a new album this year. The first single will be Spaceship and features “Kelis“, “apl.de.ap” and Jean-Baptiste. A music video has already been shot.^[6] On May 24th, “Spaceship” was selected as the Song of the Day on About.com, with the site calling Benassi’s production “tight and melodic, and Kelis turns in a fantastic performance.”^[7]

But in all seriousness, some of the best house electro in the world is coming out of Sweden these days, and Dada Life is no exception.

Dada Life is a Swedish house/electronica band, consisting of Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom.

Their blend of electro house is really something that isn’t quite classifiable. Those are my favorite artists, those who create music regardless of a genre – there are a small camp of us who deny genre’s completely. SFL definitely belongs to that camp. And so does DADA LIFE! They don’t care about genres. They don’t care about smartness. They don’t care about the things you care about.

Dada Life just make you jump up and down. Then make you want to crash into a wall with a smile on your face.BIO: The formula has been a winner since the start. In summer 2006 Dada Life released ”Big Time” and DJ:s all over got their first take on the duo. Since then there has been a steady stream of records: ”The Great Fashionista Swindle”, ”Vote Yes” and “Fun Fun Fun” as well as the full length album “Just Do The Dada”. Dada Life have also remixed artists such as Laidback Luke,Alex Gopher and Dan Black/Kid Cudi (check tha linx)

They have also recently been collaborating with Tiesto:

Tiësto quickly understood how to Do the Dada – and the duo played before him on his massive USA-tour 2009 (as well as some dates 2010). That was their biggest performance to date, and their launching platform into widespread popularity (as playing with Tiesto often is..)

This is going to be a massive year for the pair, with planned tours in USA and Australia, as well as gigs at the big European festivals.

Good, because Dada Life are obviously hungry again, and they need to feed!

Expect them to really bring it this year at EDC, especially because of this year’s abnormally high level of worthy competition. This is an exciting time to be involved in the electronic music world, for more reasons that I can go into

Wouldn’t want to spin against ANYONE playing at EDC, to be honest. Collaborations however, that’s a different story.

As DJ’s Dada Life always have a little extra in their record bag. They constantly produce their own remixes/edits (“Guerilla Farts”!!!) of good tunes in order to have something unique to play. (And when they get bored with the tunes, the mp3’s end up somewhere on the net…)

Wanna give a HUGE shout out to THE Glitch Mob while I’m at it..
I have recently fallen in love with this group (bromance, you may call it..)

What I like about them: They truly bridge the gap between all the new age production capabilities (aka dubstep, drum n bass, house, electro music type) and yet with a solid, even old school hip hop influence. Most of their songs you could genuinely classify as hip-hop, and yet they infuse elements from all the previously mentioned genres.
I am a huge fan. 5 stars

Swine Flu: According to reports, the virus is a “never-before-seen form of the flu that combines pig, bird and human viruses” which consists of an intercontinental mix of viruses from North America, Europe and Asia.

“CDC officials detected a virus with a unique combination of gene segments that have not been seen in people or pigs before,” according to an Associated Press report.

“This strain of swine influenza that’s beencultured in a laboratoryis something that’s not been seen anywhere actually in the United States and the world, so this is actually a new strain of influenza that’s been identified,” said Dr. John Carlo, Dallas Co. Medical Director (video clip here).

Alarming reports are now filtering in about people catching the illness who have had no contact with pigs whatsoever. These include a man and his daughter in San Diego County, a 41-year-old woman in Imperial County and two teenagers in San Antonio, Texas. In fact, in all U.S. cases, the victims had no contact with any pigs.

Combine the two, and you are in a LOT of trouble.

VR/Swine Flu’s Relationship Advice

A list of things to do that might show a girl how much you care about her, for all you romantics out there..

leave 2 dozen roses and a love note on her bed, secretly, so she finds it as a surprise (bonus points if you get her friends involved and she has no idea what you’re doing)
take her to the beach and teach her to surf, sunbathe, then get margaritas after
go get bagels, coffee, jamba juice, or Ihop after a night when you both had way too much to drink (bonus points if she stays the night in your bed)
go on a west coast roadtrip across minimum 2 states
bonus points if:
- you stay in a coastal hotel complete with hottub and queen size bed, and then you comp bottles of wine to the room like theres no tmrw
- extra bonus points if you go on a romantic walk and watch the waves hit the shore
- go up in the gondola and have an aerial view/hike through all the amazing huge redwood trees in Northern cal (also, if possible, go to the drive thru tree, and let her drive through it)
stay with her in an apartment in San Francisco **this one is a must** make sure you take her out to dinner, party and buy her drinks, and be sure to try the watermelon wheat beer from the Beanbag (but watch out for the crazy stalker guy..)
pick her up from the airport whenever she needs you to
share all of your music with her and make her playlists that remind you of her
buy her earrings and scarves from foreign countries to show how much you’ve missed her, and make sure they highlight/complement her beautiful eyes
take her on a tour of London and introduce her to the ‘snake-bite‘ (great drink, if you didn’t know..) – pretty much any major european city will do, just make sure you know where to take her
introduce her to your entire family, even if they’re strange..
take her to a super secret spot on the beach and watch shooting stars together **this one is tough but required**
write her a song on the piano
wait for her outside as long as you have to; in the end, its worthit
supply all the alcohol and come up with the theme for her birthday party and make friends with all her friends, so you can all hang out more often
watch ‘kitchen nightmares’, ‘modern family’, and/or ‘better off ted’ with her just to relax and snuggle, even when you have TONS of work you should be doing
spend hours editing her spanish HW, essays, and help edit her application essay for abroad, even when her getting accepted to abroad means she’s gone for the entire next semester
give her massages whenever she is stressed or pretty much just whenever she wants; soft kisses are also a plus
name your first imaginary child in advance, naturally after the best cereal ever (lucky charms, duhhh)
talk about/come up with super secret plots to steal cute adopted asian babies
brag to everyone about how beautiful and perfect she is, even if she doesn’t do the same for you
leave pictures of cute puppies on her computer
always forgive her for anything and everything she has ever done to upset you or break your heart, even if she doesn’t do the same for you

So I guess what I have learned is that life is a process. It has its ups and downs, a lot more frequently than we all would like; it’s filled with injustice and sorrow sometimes, other times its beautiful and simple. So I have just found a new website/online encyclopedia which called itself Encyclopedia Dramatica… You have to see this site to believe it, seriously… Search for anything and it gives you the completely unbiased – and un-pc – answer to your question, similar to wikipedia, except NOT. Try Mcdonalds for instance:

Seriously, I can’t even believe this site legally exists. Search anything that is even remotely popupar and you will be sure to find something interesting.
